Corie Thompson
I graduated in the 2003, after studying 4 years full time in the Bachelor of Social Work, accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). During my studies the university had several difficulties maintaining professional AASW accreditation, which is essential to gain employment. However, the high standard of passionate Social Work lecturers and opportunities for practical placements made up for this.
After completing my degree, I won a position in Alice Springs as a Behaviour Management Training Officer, with Aged and Disability Services. As a second job, I am employed by the Sexual Assault Referral Centre as a On-Call Counselor. I am thrilled and proud to be able to identify myself as a qualified Social Worker, and intend to use my degree in a variety of employment settings in the future.
