Alumni events
As members of Charles Darwin University (CDU) Alumni you have the opportunity to celebrate with fellow Alumni and re-establish links with old friends. We welcome our members to participate in CDU events such as the International Guitar Festival, symposium series, public seminars and talks held on campus and Alumni events and reunions.

| Event: | International Alumni Dinner - Jakarta |

| Details: |  An inaugural alumni dinner was held last month in Indonesia with 10 alumni attending. The Manager of International Marketing and Recruiting at Charles Darwin University, Ms Fiona Richards, and the Head of the School of Environmental and Life Sciences, Professor Chris Austin, hosted the first alumni dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta. CDU Alumni and the International Office plan to hold regular functions to re-establish connections with graduates and to celebrate their achievements since graduating. Ms Richards said it was important to show alumni how much the University valued them and appreciated the role they played as international ambassadors of CDU. “Maintaining ongoing relationships with our international alumni and promoting the interests of our graduates is important for the University to foster an environment where they can contribute to CDU’s future,” she said. The successful dinner in Jakarta will pave the way for more events with international Alumni members. |

| Event: | Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2006 |

| Details: | CDU students were awarded for their achievements at the annual Donor Scholarships Ceremony which took place concurrently at Charles Darwin University’s Nhulunbuy, Alice Springs and Casuarina campuses in May 2006. A total of 27 students attended the scholarships donor presentation across the three ceremonies to receive their certificate. The ceremony was hosted by CDU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Garnett. Scholarships were presented to each recipient by a representative from the sponsoring organisation. | Event: | Alice Springs end of year cocktail function |

| Details: | Charles Darwin University Alumni organised a cocktail function for all members of Alumni and Foundation in Alice Springs. The function was hosted by Don Zoellner, Professor Donna Craig, Morag McGrath and Lyle Mellors at the Alice Springs Convention Centre. Don Zoellner, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Community and Access at Charles Darwin University gave a welcome to 60 guests at the function and outlined the importance of the Alumni to the University and the way in which the University is moving forward. Mr Zoellner encouraged members to continue their correspondence with the University including member biographies and success stories the University could publish in the Origins magazine. We hope the function encouraged members to make contact and to contribute back to the University. The function also gave the University a chance to talk to members and to find out what services the University could provide to them. View photo gallery >> |

| Event: | 20 Year Reunion - Library VET Courses |

| Details: | CDU celebrated 20 years of delivering library VET courses with a 20-year reunion at Kantila’s Function Centre, Marrara Oval. The 20-year span of the library VET courses (eight in total) has produced hundreds of graduates and has been administered through three educational institutions, Darwin Institute of Technology, Northern Territory University and now Charles Darwin University. | Details: | CDU Alumni office with the support of Minter Ellison, Adelaide hosted an Alumni law function for our members in SA who graduated with law. The aim of the function was to reconnect members giving them an opportunity to discuss the University, catch on old times and establishing new connections. |
