About the Audit
AUQA Audit Report
The AUQA Audit Report of CDU is now available from their website. The Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover welcomed the AUQA Report and said it contained a raft of commendations and highlighted opportunities for improvement at CDU.
"The audit and subsequent report make a valuable contribution to continuous improvement at the university," Professor Glover said.
Among other commendations, the seven-member audit panel recognised and accepted the university’s approach to teaching and learning, known as Fleximode, and welcomed the establishment of specific areas of research concentration.
"We will respond fully to the areas identified for improvement," Professor Glover said.
The report said: "The panel gained a positive picture of CDU as a university that is undergoing substantial change in many areas and is improving its performance on several indicators."
The University will consider this report, alongside the Self Assessment Portfolio, and prepare a response plan over the next few months.

Introduction
Charles Darwin University is about to undergo two audits. The first is an audit by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) against two themes:
- Flexible Learning and Teaching Quality, and
- Research and Research Training.
The second is by the Department of Education and Training (NT DET) and is an audit of our VET activities against the Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration required by the Australian Quality Training Framework. These two audits will, in as much as possible, be conducted jointly.
The first two key milestones are:
- production of a single Audit Portfolio by February 2011, which summarises the findings of a self-review by CDU of the audit topics; and
- the hosting of visits by the AUQA and DET auditors in May 2011.
These audits will require a significant effort by many people throughout the University. This website is designed to provide all the necessary information.
Overarching Principle
CDU will be proactive and transparent in its approach to audit. This is an opportunity to support our ongoing quality improvement efforts.
The outcomes of the Audit will be;
- a public AUQA Audit report
- a public decision to renew or not renew RTO registration
- a private report from NT DET with recommendations (upon which continued registration is contingent)
- media coverage
- an informative and useful CDU portfolio
- increased awareness of strengths and opportunities for improvement
- momentum to drive improvements
