Business Development Champions

Champions have a number of roles and functions in common irrespective of the particular core business area they are associated with:

Additional specific roles for business development champions

  1. Serve on the Business Development Panel as required.
  2. Be aware of consulting, research and teaching expertise and capabilities in your School so that you can be an effective point of contact for people both within and outside the University.
  3. Maintain an awareness of potential business opportunities in the areas of expertise of your School.
  4. Maintain records of information gained in 1. and 2. and provide copies to your Faculty Business Leader, the Executive Director Business Development, the Head of School and others as required.
  5. Be proactive in suggesting new opportunities for business development within your School: identify business opportunities for courses (including short course/workshop delivery) and identify and support good business ideas in all areas.
  6. Aid the flow of information about new opportunities within your School.
  7. Initiate, assist with or advise on the coordination of the development of business proposals within the School or involving the School, including the generation of tender teams.
  8. Assess and advise on the capacity of the School to participate in business development generally in areas of expertise and for specific opportunities from time to time.
  9. Assist as an adviser in the development of business plans for proposed initiatives.
  10. Be familiar with, and provide advice on University policies and processes relevant to business development.
  11. Contribute to staff development within the School.
  12. Celebrate success and contribute to the promotion and recognition of successful business development initiatives internally and externally.
