Role
The Business Development Panel is an advisory body to the Executive Director Business Development and the Business Development Portfolio recognising the importance of the Schools in Business Development and the need for two-way communication between the Faculties and Schools and the central Business Development Portfolio which includes the International Office, External Relations and Development, and BusinessLink. The Panel may serve as a vehicle for sharing information about Business Development from across the University and using that knowledge to improve and expand Business Development for the benefit of the University. The Business Development Champions play a key role in the Business Development Panel and in turn, serving on the Panel will assist the Business Development Champions in carrying out their role.
The Panel is expected to advise and participate from time to time in the following:

Planning – review and endorsement of Business Development plans (overall Business Development plans and plans of central offices/units)

Policy and Process Development – review and endorsement of documents; promotion and encouragement of best practice in Business Development activity; contributions to Business Development training initiatives

Promotion and encouragement of Business Development activities – development and implementation of plans to encourage business development within Schools

Capability documentation development – assistance with information gathering and review of documents

Celebrating success – make recommendations on local, National and international awards relating to Business Development

Market and business intelligence gathering – projects to collect, collate and report on information

Establishment of linkages with clients and stakeholders – including participation in the planning of and attendance at meetings and events with key individuals and groups in industry and Government

Development of and involvement in cross-portfolio interaction and initiatives

Development of other initiatives and reports as required.
Meeting and reporting
The Panel will meet six times per year. It will deliver outcomes sometimes through the formation of project teams which may involve other individuals by invitation. Reports will be provided to the Vice-Chancellor and to bodies such as VCMG as appropriate.
