Lyle Mellors |
Lyle Mellors is the senior advisor, school to vocational education and training (VET) programs, part of Charles Darwin University’s Community and Access team.
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience and skills within the Northern Territory’s vocational education and training sector, Lyle oversees all of the University’s school to VET activities.
Lyle commenced as a VET lecturer, and has since filled a number of middle management positions including head of department, senior lecturer, advanced skills lecturer and assistant head of division.
He was responsible for implementing competency-based training into NT Retail Meat Apprenticeship training in the early 1990’s and represented the NT on the National Transition Project to resource the National Training Packages in Meat Processing.
The increase in activity involving VET in schools, school-based New Apprenticeships and pre-vocational training is a key growth area for training through CDU and is in line with the NT Department of Employment, Education and Training’s School to Work Strategic Plan.
A major part of the senior advisor position involves developing the University’s partnership with the Northern Territory’s peak employer groups to open and operate the new Australian Technical College.
