Campus Administrator - Palmerston
Aretha became the campus administrator at Charles Darwin University’s Palmerston campus in 2008.
Prior to this she coordinated learning activities, events and administration for the Partnering in Leadership Pilot Program (a joint CDU-Victoria University initiative) with the University’s People Management and Development’s Workforce Development area; a position which included an advisory role to CDU managers and staff in the use of PMD tools and process with emphasis on training and development.
Before moving to Darwin in 2006, Aretha was the levy and administration manager with the Advertising Standards Bureau, Canberra, a role which included complaints administration, overseeing OH&S issues, and administering the financial and levy systems. Between 2001 and 2002 Aretha was a technical training coordinator with Holden College in Port Melbourne, where she directed a training administration team and coached, supported and negotiated with thirteen technical trainers, and other stakeholders on behalf of the organisation. This position called on and enhanced her administration, organisation, leadership, management, negotiation and communication skills, which she takes into her current position as Palmerston campus administrator. Aretha was employed with Holden Sales and Marketing and Holden College between 1999 and 2002.
Aretha holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from the University of New England and is currently studying a Master of International Management with CDU.
Aretha is committed to delivering outcomes in line with the strategic goals of CDU’s office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Community and Access, particularly that of Remotelink, and contributing to sustaining viability within the dynamic and growing community of Palmerston and surrounding regional area. She is keen to further develop the profile of CDU as a leader and highly acclaimed provider of vocational education and training (VET) by engaging with the unique Palmerston community and providing access to learning. Aretha also has a particular interest in supporting CDU’s Indigenous education and employment strategic initiatives.
