Australian Apprenticeships

About Australian Apprenticeship

Australian Apprenticeships is the new name for the scheme formerly known as 'New Apprenticeship'. Under the new scheme the benefits are still the same. They combine employment and structured training that leads to a nationally recognised qualification. You will need to sign a training contract with an employer that requires them to provide you with on-the-job training, a wage and release time for you to attend any off-the-job structured training at the Charles Darwin University. The terminology is now used to describe both apprenticeships and traineeships.

While apprenticeships were once viewed as the domain of youth, in the current skills shortage labour market, there is no age limit to starting an apprenticeship.
