Self help
Self assessment tool
Using a self-assessment tool can be a useful way to get started on finding the right job for you. It involves answering some questions to determine the type of person you are and the type of job that you might enjoy the most. You can do a quick self-assessment through the Job Juice Career Quiz.
- The quiz will break down your answers into six categories - practical, technical, creative, administrative, people and helping. Clicking on each category will allow you to view occupation types in that category
- Clicking on an occupation type will allow you to view a list of jobs and further information such as occupation size, weekly earnings, job prospects, unemployment rate, etc.
- If you click on 'Explore this job' on the right hand side of the screen, you will access detailed information relating to the job requirements such as skills, knowledge, education, abilities, interests, job environment, work values, activities and tasks.
Think about your results and talk about them with a close friend or relative. If you find the above exercise still unhelpful, please contact us to make a career's counselling appointment.
Once you have decided on the career that you would like to pursue, the next step is to find a job if you already have the required skills/experience or qualifications, or work out a study pathway if you need to obtain a qualification. Help in both of these areas is available from our careers team. Charles Darwin University offers potential students several study pathways. Contact us to find out which pathway is suitable for you.
