Academic Seminar

About

The Academic Seminar program on Friday 11 May, the second day of the Symposium, includes presentations that take up some of the issues raised in day one and explores them from a comparative perspective, exploring questions of rights for Territorians in a wider Australian and international context. After each presentation there will be opportunities for focused discussion on the individual presentations followed by general discussion of the issues raised.

The Academic Seminar will appeal to those with an interest in constitution-making in the Northern Territory and the protection of human rights. Presentations on the Territory, Australian and international contexts of human rights, and, in particular, the protection of indigenous rights, will be of special interest to the law community, to academic staff and postgraduate and undergraduate students, and to public policy makers in Territory, state and federal governments. At the same time, the day will provide an opportunity for anyone with a general concern for the protection of human rights to engage with experts on the different ways rights can be addressed.
