The Children’s Services Team delivers children’s services, early childhood education and care, afterschool care, teacher assistant and education support assistant courses across the Northern Territory. The team has lecturers based at Charles Darwin University’s Casuarina, Katherine and Alice Springs campuses, lecturers visit many other centres and communities.
The Adult Literacy and Numeracy Team delivers language, literacy and numeracy training under Certificate I in Introductory Vocational Education (IVEC), Certificate II in Education and Skills Development and Certificates I –III in General Education for Adults. Courses will only be delivered if an appropriate number of enrolments are confirmed prior to the commencement date.
Programs can be developed for specific groups of students on request by employers, government departments and community groups. An assessment will be conducted to determine entry levels and to assist the teaching team to appropriately tailor the content to address identified skills gaps. These are generally fee for service activities.
The Adult Literacy and Numeracy Team also deliver workplace English literacy in collaboration with industry partners. Projects can be conducted on campus or at the worksite, depending on employer requirements.

The English as a Second Language Team is responsible for the delivery of the DIAC-funded Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). The team delivers the Certificates I-III in Spoken and Written English (CSWE) to DIAC, domestic and international clients. In addition, the team delivers the Certificate IV in English Proficiency as an English language learning pathway for students exiting CSWE or for other students wishing to improve their English language skills. The IELTS testing centre is also managed by the ESL Team.

If you have difficulty with language, literacy and numeracy, support is available to students through the LLN Learner Support Service. A range of support options are available including in class assistance, one to one tutoring, and ongoing assistance and advice while you study. The support is based on your course material so that it is relevant and useful. Learner support workers can also conduct a pre-assessment to see if you have the literacy and numeracy skills that you will need and help provide other study pathways to get you ready to start.
