Careers and employment
Staff from Careers and Employment are available to assist
current CDU students and graduates with career counselling
and the development of strategies for effective personal career
management. Telephone counselling is available for students
studying externally or who are unable to attend the CDU
Casuarina or Alice Springs campuses.

Complaint resolution
Support and information are available through Office of Leadership and Organisational Culture to resolve grievances and complaints either with other students, university staff or university administrative or academic complaints and appeals. To assist students in the resolution of complaints and appeals, the university has developed a student administrative complaints and review process, a student academic complaint and appeals process and student/staff grievance process for complaints about discrimination and harassment.

Counselling
Professional, confidential and free counselling services are offered to students through Equity Services. The Student Facilitator (Counselling) has expertise in working with people who are dealing with a wide range of personal, study and cross-cultural issues. Information about local community services is also available through the counselling service.

Disability support
CDU is committed to providing an accessible, supportive, safe and inclusive learning environment for students who have a disability. If you have a disability, illness or injury that may impact on your studies, contact the Disability Liaison Officer, to discuss the range of adjustments that could be put in place to address the effects of a disability on your ability to study.

or medical condition on your studies can be identified and
services organised if they are required. All enquiries are

Office of Indigenous Academic Support
The Office of Indigenous Academic Support (OIAS) comprises
a team of highly skilled and qualified Indigenous staff who
provide academic support across a range of disciplines to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at
Charles Darwin University.
Whether you are looking to upgrade, re-skill, return to the
workforce or start the next phase in your life, CDU can
help with a large range of courses and academic support
for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying
internally or externally, full-time or part-time.The Office of
Indigenous Academic Support provides a culturally supportive
physical and intellectual environment that recognises and
values student needs and individual learning styles.
With Indigenous Support Centres located at Casuarina (Gurinbey),Palmerston (Duwun), Katherine (Yangan.garr), Alice Springs (Akaltye), Tennant Creek (Mila-Mila Jinjjalki) and Yirrkala (Nuwul), the OIAS team encourages students to reach their full potential while providing ongoing support and advice throughout their learning journey.
How can Indigenous Academic Support help me?
The OIAS provides high-level support and assistance to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at CDU
through:
• Provision of specialist orientation programs for new Indigenous students
• Assistance with enrolment applications and course information
• Provision of academic support and referrals for tutoring from the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), through which individual or group tutorial assistance can be arranged• Administration of the Sunning Hill Bursary which provides financial assistance to eligible students to purchase special course requirements, attend relevant conferences/ seminars, and meet unexpected or one-off expenses that cannot be met by any other income source
• Development of your leadership and public speaking skills as an Indigenous Student Ambassador for CDU
• Provision of information about scholarships and other opportunities that become available for students from time to time, as well as assistance with the preparation and submission of scholarship applications
• Referral to support agencies e.g. counsellors, and information and assistance to access other services on campus such as Student Administration and Equity Services including disability support
• Provision of advocacy support e.g. helping to deal with study problems, scholarship payments, access to Centrelink/Abstudy
• Assistance with top-up printing costs for Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education students
• Help in finding suitable accommodation through International House Darwin, Mission Australia or Aboriginal Hostels
• Regular visits to schools and community organisations to discuss study options and educational and career pathways available at CDU
• Preparation and broad email distribution of monthly Indigenous Academic Support newsletter• Excellent student facilities are available at Casuarina, Palmerston, Katherine and Alice Springs and Tennant Creek campuses, and the new Yirrkala (Gove) Education Support Centre, all of which offer culturally appropriate environments and specialised computer labs

International student support
The International Student Advisor is located in Support
and Equity Services, Building Blue 1, Room 21. The advisor
provides international students with visa information and
assists in resolving concerns encountered during their study

In addition the International Student Support and Events
Officer provides students with general Information about
courses, enrolments, health cover and activities. The
International Student Support and Events Officer is available
for consultations at the University Information Centre, Building
Orange 1, weekdays 10am - 12pm.
Learner Support Services
If you are new to studying VET and you want to improve
your skills or find out about learning strategies, then you can
contact Learner Support Services (LSS). LSS provides one to
one tutoring, as well as classroom assistance, and the help
provided is based on your course material so that it is very
relevant and useful to you. LSS can conduct a pre-assessment
to see what literacy and numeracy skills you may need to
acquire to meet your study goals. The aim of LSS is to ensure
students enjoy their study and receive the appropriate support
to successfully complete their VET course.

Library and learning precinct
The CDU Library operates at Casuarina, Palmerston and Alice Springs campuses. Library opening hours may vary between campuses and during semester breaks.
Each campus Library has a Learning Precinct where staff can assist you with finding information, printing, scanning etc. Computers are available for study and research purposes. All campus Libraries are wireless-enabled and you can connect your laptop to the wireless network. Study areas are also available with power for laptop computers.
Students who are located more than 80kms from a campus are eligible to register for Distance Services. The Library alsol offers an Ask Us service.
