Artwork story 
Joanne Nasir, from Borroloola in the Northern Territory and the Garrawa Language Group, is the artist who painted the SPiL Research Consortium logo. It is an acrylic on canvas titled ‘Connections’. The painting uses the artist’s grandmother’s song line of the Nygabaya or Spirit People Dreaming to illustrate the connection of people and the flow of communication. The painting represents two-way communication and communication is connected and influenced and shaped by many factors.
