Community Engagement at Charles Darwin University

Community engagement at CDUWhat is the definition of community engagement at CDU?

Community Engagement is key to all of Charles Darwin University's activities, characterised by two-way relationships in which the University forms partnerships with its communities to yield mutually beneficial outcomes.

Who is CDU’s community?

CDU’s community includes the businesses, industries, government agencies, non-government organisations, professional organisations, schools, Alumni, Indigenous and ethnic communities and local community groups of central Australia, northern Australia and the Asian region to our north.

Why do we need to engage?

Listening to and working with our communities enables the University to:

  • Provide teaching, learning and research that contributes to the economic, social, cultural and sustainable development of the region;
  • Enhance student learning through courses that are relevant and through opportunities for work-based learning;
  • Meet the University’s civic responsibilities; and
  • Foster a sense of community ownership – 'CDU is our university'.
