Australian Universities Community Engagement Alliance (AUCEA)
AUCEA is an alliance of Australian universities committed to university-community engagement in order to promote the social, environmental, economic and cultural development of communities. AUCEA promotes direct and mutually beneficial interaction between universities and communities that is essential for the development and application of knowledge and the shaping of our future citizens.

Higher Education Network for Community Engagement (HENCE)
HENCE is a response to the growing need to deepen, consolidate and advance the literature, research, practice, policy and advocacy for community engagement as a core element of higher education's role in society.
Network objectives:
- Create a national network coordinated across leadership organisations
- Develop a coordinated approach to providing resources and data
- Encourage local, state, regional, and national meetings (formal and informal)
- Implement a coordinated agenda for advocacy
- Create an agenda for professional development and recognition
- Celebrate institutional differences.
Increasingly, higher education institutions are intentionally connecting academic work to public purposes through extensive partnerships that involve faculty, staff and students in active collaboration with communities. This idea of "community engagement" is renewing the civic mission of higher education and transforming academic culture in ways that are both exciting and challenging.

Coalition for Community Schools
The Coalition for Community Schools is an alliance of national, state and local organisations in education K-16, youth development, community planning and development, family support, health and human services, government and philanthropy as well as national, state and local community school networks.
The Coalition advocates for community schools as the vehicle for strengthening schools, families and communities so that together they can improve student learning.

Australia Collaborative Education Network
ACEN is a network of interested practitioners and researchers involved in work integrated learning in Australia. Collaborative education currently exists in various forms including internships, cooperative education, work placements, community-based learning, clinical rotations and sandwich year. ACEN provides peer support and opportunities to share good practice in collaborative education on a national level with associated international links.

National Service Learning Clearinghouse (NSLC)
NSLC supports the service-learning community in higher education, kindergarten through grade twelve, community-based initiatives and tribal programs, as well as all others interested in strengthening schools and communities using service-learning techniques and methodologies.

Talloires Network
The Talloires Network is a collective of individuals and institutions committed to promoting the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education. The Talloires Network works together to catalyse dialogue, research and action to implement the recommendations of the Talloires Declaration.

Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U)
The (Bill) Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) was established in 2005 to turn ideas into action. CGI moves beyond discussion, fostering a shared responsibility to address major global problems. From presidents to academics, from the boardroom to the classroom, CGI members from all walks of life are affecting positive change. CGI U meetings bring together hundreds of students, university officials and global activists from the USA and around the world to address issues including climate change, global health, peace and human rights, and poverty alleviation.

Community development
Asset Based Community Development Institute (ABCD)
ABCD challenges traditional approach to solving urban problems, which focuses service providers and funding agencies on the needs and deficiencies of neighborhoods, co-directors Kretzmann and McKnight have demonstrated that community assets are key building blocks in sustainable urban and rural community revitalization efforts. ABCD has established a faculty, produces publications, conducts training, hosts networks and links to resources on the website.

Environmental sustainability
Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability (ARIES)
ARIES is the Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability based at Macquarie University, Sydney. Its core business is to undertake research that informs policy and practice in Education for Sustainability across a range of sectors including: business and industry, school education, community education, further and higher education.
ARIES adopts an innovative approach to research with a view to translating awareness of sustainability issues into action and change. ARIES is concerned with how we inform, motivate and manage structural change towards sustainability.
