Welcome!
WELCOME TO LAKESIDE DRIVE COMMUNITY GARDEN (LDCG)
We are a community garden located at Charles Darwin University Casuarina Campus on a two acre site on Lakeside Drive in Alawa. The garden was initiated by CDU Students in 2008. It is now driven by a dedicated team of volunteers and supported by the Office of Community Engagement at CDU. The garden is supported by CDU staff who donate time, equipment, guidance and resources to the garden. CDU students also work with the garden both through their course work (work-integrated learning) and as volunteers.
GARDEN DESIGN
The Lakeside Drive Community Garden doesn't have individual plots - the aim being to keep the garden open for knowledge exchange and demonstration gardens, particularly for permaculture and organic gardening techniques. We hope to open up plots to community groups in the near future. You can see the design that was developed by the community members involved with the garden and Permaculture Design Students here and if you're interested in finding out more you can read the accompanying notes here.
FINDING OUT MORE
We send out an e-mail update 1-2 times per month with upcoming events at the Lakeside Drive Community Garden as well as information about upcoming courses, workshops or demonstrations around the themes growing food organically, sustainable living practices and adapting to the implications of climate change. We are selective with the information we include and won't fill your inbox with spam! If you would like to join our email updates list, email engage@cdu.edu.au.
