Our unique location with its rich Indigenous culture offers challenging and exciting options for study and research. The Northern Territory is also Australia's gateway to Southeast Asia, with Indonesia just 500 kilometers away.

Art and Design
Our visual arts programs engage the rich and unique cultures of northern Australia and our immediate region. You can choose to do diploma, bachelor, graduate diploma or master degree programs. Other interest areas available include photography, digital imaging, drawing, painting, printmaking, art history and theory, installation and performance studies and ceramics.

Communication
Our communication and cultural studies program is headed by an internationally recognised scholar. The Bachelor of Communication and Cultural Studies (including honours), the graduate diploma, and higher degrees in communication and cultural studies open up a range of exciting careers including media, public relations and marketing.

Fashion
Our fashion courses can provide you with training you in all areas of the clothing industry. Courses, from certificate to diploma, include design, pattern making and cutting, fabric knowledge, garment construction, specialised garment construction, and finishing for the ready to wear and made to measure markets.
We have state of the art digital pattern copying equipment available for our students to use.

Graphic Design and Multimedia
Graphic design is about visually communicating information. Our courses will train you in how to communicate clearly and effectively using different media.
Traditionally graphic designers were primarily concerned with print media only, however the graphic designer's role has expanded with the introduction of electronic media. Graphic designers now shape the transference of information to almost any medium, including the internet, CD-ROM and other visual media.

Humanities and Social Science
Our humanities and social sciences courses include anthropology and archaeology, history, Indonesian and modern Greek language and studies, political science and sociology. Combined degrees are possible and include the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education, the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law, the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Communication and Cultural Studies, and the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs make use of our unique location to build strengths in Indigenous and regional studies, with a growing focus on eastern Indonesia and East Timor.

Language Studies
Indonesia - the world's fourth most populous state - is central to Australia's long-term strategic and economic interests. Through our Indonesian language and studies courses you can learn about Indonesian language, politics, culture, media and linguistics.
Modern Greek units are now available at Charles Darwin University. With assistance from Flinders University and the Greek Orthodox Community of the Northern Territory, Charles Darwin University is now offering a stream of study in modern Greek that can be taken as an elective in an undergraduate degree, particularly the Bachelor of Arts. Library and Information Management
Library and information studies offers certificates and a diploma in library and information services as well as a Bachelor of Library and Information Management. Recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association, you can gain, once graduated, professional positions in library and information systems in the public and the private sectors.

Music
We offer a vibrant and innovative music program with a strong community interface. The Advanced Diploma of Music provides you with the training to become a community musician. The Bachelor of Music concentrates on performance skills, while the Bachelor of Music/Bachelor Education provides full accreditation as a primary or secondary school music teacher. You can specialise in a range of instruments including voice, guitar, cello, trombone, flute and violin. You have a number of performance opportunities in ensembles and orchestras including the University Chamber Orchestra and Darwin Symphony Orchestra.
The school's pre-tertiary music program, Centre for Youth Music, provides ensemble training and tuition for children between three and 18 years. The Darwin Youth Orchestra is the most senior ensemble in the centre.
The school also hosts the Darwin International Guitar Festival, a major biennial event.
