Darwin Youth Orchestra

The Darwin Youth Orchestra (DYO) is the most senior ensemble in the Centre for Youth and Community Music.

It is an orchestra with a complete complement in every instrumental section, performing music with excellence.

Bringing together the finest young musicians from the local and the wider community, the DYO is the premier ensemble for young classical musicians in Darwin.

AMEB Grade 3 – 7
Audition held every Thursday between 5pm - 6:30pm Orange 6.1.08 (The Performance Room).

Goals

To bring together the finest young musicians from Darwin and surrounding areas to rehearse and perform together under inspiring leadership.

To offer students opportunities to expand their knowledge of orchestral repertoire through broadly based variations and styles of music.

To augment, enrich, encourage, and enhance students from the Centre for Youth and Community Music as well as local school music programs in the region.

To enable students to experience the elements of a “professional environment”, including competition, responsibility, concert hall performances.

To foster students' interest in music as performers.
