Ensemble Programs
Taking part in an ensemble is one of the most rewarding and valuable experiences of a student's musical training and complements what has been learnt in individual lessons.
Ensemble performance assists students to develop rhythm, intonation, phrasing, and to hone their listening skills, whilst fostering teamwork and a spirit of collaboration.
A number of ensemble programs are offered at the CYM. All students taking individual tuition through the CYM
are strongly encouraged to participate in the ensemble program to extend their competencies in the areas of musicianship, conceptual understandings and aesthetic awareness, and to move from the isolation of individual practice into the sociable environment of group music making.
Weekly ensemble rehearsals culminate with performances at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.
Ensembles available include:
- Darwin Youth Orchestra *
