FluteFlute

A high-pitched woodwind instrument consisting of a slender tube closed at one end with keys and finger holes on the side and an opening near the closed end across which the breath is blown. Also called transverse flute.

Is this instrument suitable for my child to learn?

The cost of a flute is relatively small, and transportation is very easy. The fingering is the same as the recorder, and it is fairly easy to make a sound. Children as young as eight years can enjoy learning the flute or younger if they can procure an instrument bent double for shorter arms.
