Mark Walton Visit - Monday 21 - Wednesday 23 April
The Centre for Youth Music and the Northern Territory Music School is hosting a visit by Mark Walton from 21st to the 23rd April 2008.
Mark Walton is a highly respected and popular figure in the Australian and New Zealand musical scene and widely acknowledged in many parts of the world as a leading clarinet and saxophone performer, inspiring teacher and charismatic musician.
He is the former Chair of Woodwind and then Chair of Performance, Outreach and Communications at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and is currently Director of the Christchurch School of Music in New Zealand and a leading force in distance education.
Mark has written, compiled or edited for different publishers over two hundred music publications, many of which have become standard woodwind teaching repertoire. He has recorded ten solo albums and in 2005 Mark was awarded an OAM for his services to music education especially in rural areas.
Mark will be delivering sessions on teaching beginners, teaching adults, special woodwind teaching sessions, ensemble direction and the techniques of video conferenced music lessons.
We are very excited about his visit, and hope that students and teachers alike are able to put aside a few days to come and listen learn and enjoy all that Mark has to offer.
