Heavy rigid truck and bus licence (remote)

This course is delivered on communities and is modified to suit all levels of literacy including English as second language.

Cost: Fee for service (the course does not include cost of upgrade of licence fee for MVR)

Definition of Heavy Rigid

Any rigid vehicle (truck or bus) with three axles or more, and a trailer with GVM of less than 9 tonnes. HR does not allow the driver to carry passengers for hire or reward (for payment), unless they have an 'H' endorsement.

Requirements for HR licence

To be eligible for an HR licence, the participant must:

  • Have held a 'C' Car class or Light Rigid licence for at least twenty four months (two years)
  • Pass a Heavy Vehicle theory test including weights and measures
  • Pass a Practical test for that vehicle as per Motor Vehicle Registry specifications
  • Provide proof of residency (e.g. current drivers licence)
  • Provide secondary proof displaying name and address (e.g. bills, letter from council, etc.)
