Asset
Management
Welcome to the Asset Management site for the Faculty
of Education, Health & Science. The faculty has one
of the largest asset bases in the university. Equipment
in excess of $10m is procured and managed by the Faculty
Assets Committee. The equipment ranges from items such
as modems and glassware, to major agricultural equipment
and scanning electron microscopes.
An important aspect in managing these resources is the
planned preventative maintenance of equipment. Highly
specialised equipment such as mass spectrometers and
electron microscopes, require service engineers to travel
from southern states. Arrangements are made to synchronise
service visits with other local institutions, to minimise
travel costs for all.
Annual maintenance costs alone exceed $200K so a method
of obtaining regular funds is required. Monies are sourced
from Areas of Strength, Schools, and Centres.
For Faculty School's, Centre's, who wish to purchase
equipment in excess of $10,000, it is requested that
in the first instance, staff put in a request for funding
to one of the appropriate bodies, such as Higher Education
Equipment Grants or VTE Equipment Grants. Links to these
sites can be found here.
The Asset Management Committee is accountable to the
Faculty Executive, and plays an important role within
the Faculty.
