This unit assists novice teachers to understand the processes of global change affecting teachers work and prepares them for their future role as change agents and culture workers. It involves a consideration of the transformation of self, social transformation, the adoption of alternative methodologies, and ways to effect cultural change. |

This unit examines a number of issues related to transition in the early years of secondary school including the move from primary to secondary school, teaching for resilience, the education of boys, bullying, drug education and mental health. Preservice teachers explore the ramifications of different learning styles, interactive and collaborative approaches to teaching and learning, narrative styles of delivery, productive and constructivist approaches and the use of modeling and scaffolding. This unit will be conducted in the form of a thirty five day practicum. |

EDB306 EAL for Inclusion |
In this unit, students develop knowledge and skills relating to the teaching of English as an additional language in mainstream classes. Topics to be covered include how languages are learned, the NT linguistic context and the nature of school-based language use. Students will compare and critique a number of approaches to the teaching of English, with a view to making informed choices about the language pedagogies most appropriate to their own teaching. |
