Teaching, Learning & Early Education

 

The Teaching and Learning group focuses on strengthening engagement in teaching and learning, transforming educational contexts for effective teaching and learning, supporting and empowering learners, educators, families, and other stakeholders, and sharing perspectives on teaching and learning to inform policy and practice.

Specifically, group researchers aim to:

  • Improve outcomes for learners in across Territory, Northern Australia and near Asian and Pacific neighbours
  • Promote collective, open enquiry and action that makes a difference in the teaching, learning and living environments for children, families and educators
  • Strengthen alliances with educators, community and educational stakeholders
  • Explore the impact of current approaches to teaching and learning and their relevance to acquisition of skills, understandings, knowledges, attitudes, values and identities in learning contexts and communities
  • Improve patterns of success and inclusion in educational contexts, especially for Indigenous learners
  • Enrich teaching and learning experiences across contexts, disciplines, and sectors including schools, early childhood centres, and higher education
  • Enhance the capacity of families, educators and educational communities to impact positively on educational outcomes for learners in a range of contexts
  • Improve teaching and learning from a research-informed policy and practice base
  • Make a significant contribution to teaching and learning knowledge bases for Northern Australia
  • Promote learner inclusion and engagement to improve learning outcomes

Work in the Teaching and Learning group is driven by five key strategic commitments:

  3. Capacity building for learners, communities and educational contexts.
