Tropical Environmental Disturbance and Stress Group (TEDS)
The Tropical Environmental Disturbance and Stress Group conducts research that focuses on the unique and challenging environment for the inhabitants of the wet-dry tropics. These challenges are of two types: human-induced and natural. The Group's research is organised into the themes: disturbance and stress and group members have individual specialties that include studies of plants, animals, humans, environmental chemistry and biochemistry.
The collaborative links within the group are numerous and the group's research is strengthened by virtue of the fact that our expertise is extensive. For example: soil health projects include members with expertise in molecular biology, nutrient cycling, plant physiology, chemistry and rehabilitation ecology. Similarly, animal studies include animal physiology, chemistry, and soil ecology (as contributed by a plant physiologist).
This site describes our research and the activities of the teams involved in various projects. For further information the contact details of the research leaders and postgraduate students are listed in the site.
