Application Process

Supervisors

Completed Project Supervisor Application forms (EHSE120) should be forwarded to the PGResearch Office, Faculty EHSE, Blue 4.1.12 or emailed to pgresearch@cdu.edu.au.  Please include “UTROP’ in the subject line of your email.

Supervisors will be responsible for costs of implementing the project (other than the student stipend).  Ideally the project should be part of an existing project, but may be used to trial something new.

Successful projects will then be posted on the UTROP web site accessible through the Faculty of EHSE home page, EHSE Research & Postgraduates.  Students are to choose suitable projects and discuss these with their supervisor.

Students

After having organised a project with your supervisor, send a completed UTROP Application form (EHSE121), together with your curriculum vitae, a letter from at least one referee and a copy of your academic transcript to:

Applicants will be assessed on their academic record, project selection criteria, referee’s report and CV.  UTROP places will be awarded on merit.  Applicants are advised to go through the checklist and ensure all paperwork is attached.

Applicants who have successfully completed a UTROP project may negotiate extensions of projects where appropriate, or re-apply for a different project.

Selection process

Upon receipt, your application will be acknowledged and the Faculty Research Panel will meet to rank and select successful applicants.  The number of projects awarded each year depends on the Faculty and sponsor allocations.  Applicants may be called for interviews at the discretion of the Faculty Research Panel.  All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application.
