Project: Young Carer Resilience Training

Project Summary
My role as part of the UTROP was to undertake a literature review concerning childhood resilience at Carers Northern Territory. I reviewed literature from numerous databases, journals, websites and books. Literature indicated limited research and data in the area of childhood resilience. There was even less information and research concerning young carers. Project: Literature review investigating the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to help people with dementia and their carers
Supervisor: Dr Deborah West
Project Summary
This UTROP project was a literature review of recent sources that investigated how ICT might be used to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and those who care for them. The practical result of the project was a document of approximately 5500 words that considered the issue from a number of viewpoints across a micro-macro practice continuum. Read more ....

What is UTROP?

UTROP is an educational scheme designed to give undergraduate students at CDU, Faculty of Education, Health & Science an opportunity to participate in research projects. UTROP will provide experience in research, while still enabling students to continue with formal studies. UTROP students receive payment.

UTROP is designed to provide undergraduate students with research experience which may help them decide if they are suited to postgraduate study at Charles Darwin University.

UTROP Process

  • Call for Sponsors, supervisors and projects (June 22, 2007)
  • Closing for submission of UTROP project proposals (August 31, 2007)
  • Associate Dean to check supervisor/project applications
  • Projects able to be viewed and student applications open (September 10, 2007)
  • Closing date for submission of application for UTROP projects (October 26, 2007)
  • UTROP meeting convened to assess UTROP student applications (November 5, 2007)
  • Students and supervisors notified of success of UTROP applications (November 12, 2007)
