Roles and responsibilities

Role of the PGResearch Office

  • Calls for project proposals
  • Acknowledges and notifies applicants of the result of the selection process
  • Convenes the Faculty Research Panel meetings
  • Co-ordinates the evaluation processes
  • Provides advice and assistance to supervisors and students
  • Provides mentoring and problem-solving

Role of the UTROP Supervisor

  • Co-ordinates the student’s UTROP project
  • Provides ongoing supervision, including co-ordinating the roles and responsibilities of other staff associated with the project
  • Arranges induction for students including OHS requirements
  • Arranges payment of the UTROP student allowance
  • Provides written feedback to the students on their performance by completing a Supervisor Evaluation Report (EHSE122)
  • Ensures student’s compliance with UTROP reporting

Role of the UTROP Student

  • Conducts themselves with the same integrity and professionalism expected of all members of the Faculty
  • Complies with CDU administration and safety procedures and adheres to polices and procedures of the host institute
  • Fulfils the formal reporting requirements for UTROP by completing a Student Evaluation Report (EHSE123)
  • Liaises with their supervisor and PGResearch Office
  • Secures a reference from their supervisor if required
