If you like working outdoors with plants and machinery and you want to be involved in an industry that is innovative and allows for individuality, then horticulture may be for you.
Employment in the many horticulture fields is becoming increasingly specialised with a greater emphasis on technology and management skills including contract administration and tendering skills. Some enterprises require employees to be multi-skilled across horticulture sectors and in some instances agriculture.
Skills that can be gained at CDU include horticulture, asset maintenance (pest management - technical), arboriculture, landscape, nursery, parks and garden, production and turf management.
Career Options
Arborists, landscape gardeners, nursery assistants, parks and gardens assistants, and those involved in the turf industry all have horticulture study as the base for the their knowledge and skills.
