Youth detention focus of lecture
The issues surrounding young people in detention will be the focus of this year’s Charles Darwin University’s Austin Asche Oration in Law and Governance.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, The Honourable Marilyn Warren AC, will deliver the 6th Austin Asche Oration, entitled “Young people in detention: impacts, progress and alternatives”, in Darwin on 11 October.
Ms Warren was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria in November 2003, having been appointed as a judge of the Court in 1998. She is the longest-serving of all current Australian Chief Justices. She is a graduate of Monash University and is also the Lieutenant-Governor of Victoria.
The 6th Austin Asche Oration honours the service of The Hon Austin Asche AC QC to the people of the Northern Territory and his contribution to the law, tertiary education and to the community.
