Beauty buzzing in Red Centre

By Patrick Nelson

Beauty is buzzing again in the Red Centre with a new lecturer and a new salon at Alice Springs campus.

Former businesswoman Tracie Lane said it was good to be back in the Alice after several years in New South Wales, where she helped train teenage girls in the art and craft of beauty therapy.

“Thursdays are my busiest days when many of the town’s apprentices attend class to continue working towards their certificates,” Ms Lane said.

“We work from a fully equipped training salon that was custom-built late last year to accommodate beauty therapy and nail technology training.

“Among the features are two industry-standard massage-pedicure chairs, a make-up studio and beauty-therapy area.”

Ms Lane said the strong ongoing interest in personal services had prompted CDU to introduce night classes.

“I’ll be running a nail technology class on Monday evenings, and a make-up short course on Friday evenings,” she said.

“The timing will allow people who are otherwise committed during the day an opportunity to develop new techniques and learn new skills.

“People always want to look good and feel good,” she said.

CDU also will continue to run hairdressing classes on Mondays and Tuesdays each week.

“Hair and beauty in Alice Springs is growing fast and we are very happy with the numbers,” Ms Lane said.
