Black tie dinner not to be missed

The New Year will begin in style with planning in full swing for the 2018 Charles Darwin Black Tie Dinner.

The CDU Foundation fundraiser, and the first major business dinner of the year, will be held on Monday, 12 February, marking Charles Darwin’s 209th birthday.

Foundation Board chair Ms Deborah Fracaro said the dinner would celebrate Charles Darwin’s contribution to science and the importance of knowledge, education and exploring new scientific frontiers.

“Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution has profoundly changed our understanding of the world and our place in it, and has had enormous ramifications for science,” Ms Fracaro said.

“Our university has itself evolved over time, from humble beginnings as a community college more than 40 years ago, to a vibrant young university, intimately connected to the Territory and its future.

“All funds raised by the foundation go towards projects that ultimately enhance CDU student outcomes.”

The NT Chief Minister and the Lord Mayor of Darwin have committed their support for the event, which will be held in the Grand Ballroom at SkyCity Darwin.

CDU staff and members of the wider community are encouraged to attend the event.
