Two Charles Darwin University computer science academics have participated in a round-table discussion in the lead-up to Code Week Europe, an event designed to stimulate digital skills and knowledge.

School of Engineering and Information Technology’s Professor Mike Fellows and Research Fellow Professor Frances Rosamond said the “Programming with Children” panellists at the Children’s Museum in Vienna canvassed a variety of thoughts and recommendations for Code Week.

Professor Rosamond said one of Code Week Europe’s priorities was to find innovative ways to reduce youth unemployment.

She said they hoped to inspire European citizens of all ages to start learning the language of computers.

Professor Rosamond said hundreds of activities were being planned for Code Week, which last year attracted 10,000 participants in 26 countries.
