Graduates secure jobs with government

By Patrick Nelson

Nine Charles Darwin University business students have secured work with the Northern Territory Public Service after completing a pre-employment program in Katherine.

Business lecturer Tammy Healey said the inaugural Katherine Indigenous Employment Program had provided participants with a fantastic opportunity to develop work and life skills.

“The program was structured to allow participants to develop skills and the confidence to succeed in the workplace,” Ms Healey said.

“They gained practical business skills and work experience and completed a Certificate II in Business with CDU.”

Ms Healey said the 20-week program involved the Northern Territory Department of Corporate and Information Services.

“It demonstrates how CDU and the VET training system can deliver skilled graduates for NT Government agencies in Katherine.

“The success of this inaugural program has provided a solid foundation to ensure that it will be run again.”

Ms Healey said students and staff gathered at Knotts Crossing Resort to celebrate their achievements.
