Master of Information Technology (Software Engineering)

The Master of Information Technology (Software Engineering) is offered to IT graduates wishing to upgrade their qualifications in the area of software engineering. The course is accredited through the Australian Computer Society and combines course and project work to provide interest and challenge to students. Project work may be based in industry, providing opportunities to engage with potential employers. An optional 12 week work placement unit is available to students to undertake as part of the course.

Program structure

The core of this program prepares students with the necessary IT skills so that they are well prepared for work when graduated. The program stresses both the importance of theory and the application of theory in practice through projects and practical exercises.

This course is available externally by distance learning for those who are not able to attend classes on campus on a regular basis. Distance learning requires reliable broadband internet access.

The ICT roles associated with this course are in areas of software engineer, analyst programmer and developer programmer.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a recognised Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Systems or equivalent.
