Mr Brent Villiers
NT Manager, Trades Industry Division
Mr Brent Villiers joined Charles Darwin University (CDU) in 2006 as Head of School, Trades, from the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE in Townsville, Queensland.
He has many years of engineering management skills and experience, and 20 years training experience with the RAAF, 19 years with Queensland TAFE, and has worked overseas as the Director of Vocational Education at the College of Micronesia-FSM. In the latter position he successfully designed, implemented and coordinated competency-based training programs across a wide range of trades and occupations, from maritime, construction trades, electrotechnology and computer engineering to nursing.
The experience and expertise Mr Villiers brings to CDU in his current role as NT Manager, Trades will be pivotal to the continued growth and development of the Trades Industry Division and a quality workforce across the Northern Territory.
Mr Villiers has a significant understanding of the changes and challenges facing the VET sector in the Territory and is determined that CDU partners industry and other enterprises to meet the challenges of Territory’s skill shortages and in doing so CDU becomes the trainer of choice for the Northern Territory. He is very focused on continuous improvement of delivery and is keen to implement flexible and blended delivery models across the trades division at CDU.
Mr Villiers has a Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia, an Associate Diploma of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics), an Associate Diploma in Electronic Maintenance Engineering (Aircraft Communication Systems) and an Associate Diploma of Administrative Studies.
