Professor Eric Valentine
Foundation Chair of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Education, Health and Science
Eric Valentine holds the Foundation Chair in Civil Engineering at Charles Darwin University. He has a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Strathclyde University, Scotland and completed his PhD in 1978 at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Professor Valentine is a Chartered Professional Engineer with thirty years experience in applied hydraulic research and is an acknowledged international expert in river and coastal dispersion, sediment transport and river morphology.
He spent 10 years with the New Zealand Ministry of Works and 18 years with the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where he is a Visiting Professor.
He is an associate editor of the Journal of Hydraulic Research and the Journal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and the Institution of Civil Engineers (London).
