Institute of Advanced Studies

Students

The Institute of Advanced Studies has a mandate to develop applied research capacity in the Northern Territory, build cooperative relationships between the university, local industry and government and provide a research focus for our academics and postgraduate students. In particular, we have a crucial role in helping to train the next generation of researchers by means of masters and doctoral degrees and early career research support.

Our students have many exciting and relevant options in their fields of study. Research at Charles Darwin University focuses on the peoples, societies, cultures, economies, institutions, infrastructures, and environments of tropical Australia and South East Asia, as well as the Australian desert. We aim to have a lasting impact on the policies and actions of governments, non-government organisations, businesses, and individuals while contributing to knowledge both in the region and globally.

The information on this page should be helpful for postgraduate students trying to find their way around the IAS and Charles Darwin University.
