About the Office
CDU has committed itself to becoming a leader amongst Australian universities in relation to Indigenous participation and relevance in its Strategic Plan, and by implication, significantly contributes to the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of Indigenous people and communities in the Northern Territory and beyond.
The Office of Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Leadership has an exciting and comprehensive mandate. It undertakes a program of positive reform through the establishment of structures, processes and relationships within CDU to provide a framework to incorporate Indigenous perspectives into all aspects of the University now and into the future.
In the coming year CDU staff will be invited to participate in processes that will review, reaffirm and strengthen the Institution’s commitment to improving Indigenous education, employment and research outcomes, and these processes will provide opportunities to renew this resolve. The recent commitment by the University to establish a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) by 30 June 2012 and to formulate tangible real life outcomes for the Indigenous community which it serves.
