Endeavour Student Exchange Scholarships
The Endeavour Student Exchange Program is part of the Australian Government’s Australian Scholarships. Under the Program, the Government provides funding to Australian higher education institutions to:
- set up and monitor student exchanges with counterpart higher education institutions in eligible countries in the Asia-Pacific region; and
- support the participation of both outgoing Australian undergraduate Bachelor degree exchange students and incoming undergraduate Bachelor degree exchange students in these exchanges.
CDU has been awarded scholarships of $5,000 each for undergraduate students’ participation in eligible student exchanges. These scholarships are available from semester 1 2008, through to semester 2 /2009 for students who successfully apply for exchange placement, for exchange with partner universities in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and where the scholarships are available. For details on the incoming and outgoing exchange application process please see visit exchange program.

Subject approval
The subject approval process is your responsibility. You should select subjects at the host institution and match them with the required units at Charles Darwin University. A normal full-time load equivalent of 40 credit points is the expected load.
Please be aware that:
- There are degree rules at Charles Darwin University that must be met
- You may also have to fulfil professional requirements
- Charles Darwin University course advisors do not necessarily deal with large numbers of exchanges so the process may take some time
- Degree structures at other institutions/countries may be significantly different and involve research (via email or through materials at Charles Darwin University) to match subjects.
Ambassadorial role
When undertaking an exchange student role, you are acting as an ambassador for Charles Darwin University. In this context, you are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic achievement and personal conduct while representing the university and the Northern Territory as an exchange student.
There is also an expectation that you will participate in exchange-related activities during, before and after the exchange program.
Foreign language proficiency
If you wish to study in a university that does not teach in the English language, you will be required to provide evidence of your proficiency in that language.
Application process
To start the application process, you should:
- Complete an application form
- Download the Student Application Form for Exchange (.pdf, 42KB)
- Complete the form with all required attachments/information

- 1 April for the following Autumn semester (September - January)

- It is your responsibility to provide:
- Academic transcripts from any previous university studies at another institution
- Any medical evidence needed for the application
- Evidence of language proficiency.
- Attach academic referee's report
- You need to have two academic referee's reports completed.
- Develop a study plan
- You are required to undertake studies, which constitute a full time semester load at Charles Darwin University (40 credit points). You need to discuss this with your course advisor and have your enrolment at the host institution determined and approved before you leave Australia. When you have completed your semester(s) away, the host institution will provide CDU with an official academic transcript, which will undergo grade conversion and then be recorded on your CDU academic record.
Assessing your application
Approval is dependent on:
- Your eligibility criteria being met
- Credit transfer being approved by your faculty
- Availability of places at the host institution.
The final decision on acceptance into an exchange program rests with the host university.
