Arriving at Charles Darwin University
First contact
Meet with the Student Facilitator (International Support) at the Uni Info Shop, Ground Floor, Building 29 to:
- Finalise your Overseas Health Cover
- Arrange an appointment with your course coordinator and faculty contact so that you can organise your timetable and enrolment
- Obtain details about orientation programs
- Seek advice about arranging banking, accommodation, email address, student card, part-time work and other concerns
- Receive more information about the university and Darwin
- Receive information regarding responsibilities under the ESOS Act.
Other main priorities
- Familiarise yourself with your accommodation, the university and Darwin
- Get used to the Australian accent; visit shopping centres, watch TV, listen to radio, go to the cinema, talk with other students
- Meet and make new friends
- Contact other students and families from your home country
- Join interest groups in the community.
Ongoing responsibilities while you are in Australia
- Always have a current passport and visa. If your visa is due to expire, see the Student Facilitator (International Support) and arrange for an extension. Keep your passport in a safe place
- Observe all visa requirements and restrictions
- Ensure that your Health Cover is always current and paid
- Pay tuition fees before the commencement of each semester.
