Transition
For many students this will be a first departure from your home to live and study in another country. Many of your experiences will be different from those you are used to in your own country:
- Environments will be unique
- Lifestyles will be different
- Teaching and study methods may differ
- Speech styles will vary
Strategies
- Ask questions about what is expected and explain to others what you do not understand or what makes you feel uncomfortable
- Seek advice from the International Student Officers on support available including counselling
- For language and speech assistance:
- Listen carefully and don't hesitate to ask people to repeat themselves - remember this is quite acceptable
- Ask your faculty or Student Facilitator (International Support) at the Uni Info Shop about the university programs designed to provide assistance.
Keep the university informed
If you change your accommodation, address, phone number or email address, notify the Student Facilitator (International Support).
