The NTU School of Law offers students a nationally recognised
degree leading to professional admission as a practicing lawyer
in Australia. Staff maintain close contact with members of
the practising legal profession, who are involved in giving
lectures, taking tutorials and participating in the Annual
Moot Court Program.
The Law School has developed a reputation locally and Australia-wide
for the quality of its courses and teaching.
Small class sizes and easy access to lecturers, creates
a supportive study environment for all students and makes
NTU an attractive option for studying law.
By choosing to study law your career options are not
strictly limited to becoming a solicitor, barrister, prosecutor
or judge, if that is not your ambition. The legal skills students
attain at NTU are widely applicable to employment in both
the private and public sectors and can lead to careers in
areas such as politics, human rights, teaching, industrial
relations or any other role where an in-depth understanding
of the law is an advantage.
Students
are able to study law as a single discipline or in combined
degree programs with the Bachelor of Aboriginal and Torres
Straight Islander Studies, Arts, Business, Economics, Information
Technology and Science.
Each year the School of Law rewards excellence and
dedication to study at the Annual Prizes Night, which includes
the presentation of the Supreme Court Medal and the Attorney
General's Medal.
Our unique geographic location facilitates specialisation
in Indigenous legal issues and South East Asian Law. An Indigenous Pre-Law Program
is available to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander students.
The Centre of Southeast Asian Law
provides a focus for research and post-graduate studies.
