Dr Santa's thesis has been praised by its three examiners for its relevance to industry and potential to improve efficiency and effectiveness in business.
"These two critical areas of business, technological innovation and operational effectiveness, have only been linked in a superficial way in the past, but my work is based on deep investigation," Dr Santa said.
"The new model that I have developed will provide business managers with guidelines to increase the effectiveness of their systems, to positively effect the bottom line."
Prior to joining CDU in April this year, Dr Santa was a researcher at CQ University in Queensland.
In 2008, he was awarded, with fellow researcher Mario Ferrer, the Industry Impact Award at the Continuous Innovation Network (CINet) Conference, held in Spain.
Dr Santa is presenting parts of his thesis at four conferences this year, including the ANZAM (Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management) Operations Management Symposium in Adelaide, the CINet Conference in Brisbane and the ANZAM conference in Melbourne.
