The Garden
We are a community garden located at Charles Darwin University Casuarina Campus on a two acre site on Lakeside Drive in Alawa. The garden is driven by a dedicated team of volunteers and supported by the Office of Community Engagement at CDU.
Sustainable Food
Community gardens are recognised worldwide as a great way to grow food, improve health, meet people, and cultivate vibrant communities. Our aim is to keep the garden open for knowledge exchange and permaculture and organic gardening techniques.
Get Involved
Everyone is welcome to join us as we build the Lakeside Drive Community Garden. There are many ways to get involved, whether you like to plant trees, pick tomatoes, plan events, design and build garden structures - there is something for everyone.
Welcome to the community gardens site

We are a community garden located at Charles Darwin University Casuarina Campus on a two acre site on Lakeside Drive in Alawa. The garden was initiated by CDU Students in 2008. It is now driven by a dedicated team of volunteers and supported by the Office of Community Engagement at CDU. The garden is supported by CDU staff who donate time, equipment, guidance and resources to the garden. CDU students also work with the garden both through their course work (work-integrated learning) and as volunteers.
