External Student Support
The External Student Support team are responsible for managing the following:
- Dispatch of printed course materials
- Assignments where advised by unit lecturers
- External/off campus examination
- Open Universities Australia units
- Study resources (including Learnline)
- Outcome of student evaluation of units
Dispatch of printed course materials
Upon receipt of course materials from UniPrint, we process and send applicable printed unit materials to you by post or, if overseas, via international courier. We endeavour to send your materials to you within a 24 to 48 hour time frame subject to material availability. Students should check unit information to see if relevant units are also delivered via Learnline.
Assignment submission by external students
External Student Support manages students' assignments in hard copy format for many external units. Assignments are logged and sent to lecturers, usually within 24 to 48 hours of receipt. If we are experiencing peak loads then the timeline may be a little longer. Lecturers return assignments to us and we post back to you. Please check relevant unit information either on Learnline or/and in your print based materials in regard assignment submission and follow directions set down by relevant unit lecturers.
Assignment Cover Sheets
All assignments need to have cover sheets attached with all of the information filled in and the plagiarism declaration signed and dated. If you submit without an accompanying cover sheet your assignment will be receipted but not logged. You will be contacted by email or telephone advising you to submit the accompanying cover sheet before we can log and forward your assignment to the relevant lecturer. It is in your interest to follow procedures to ensure your assignment is not delayed.
An assignments drop box is located within the Casuarina Campus Library foyer and is accessible during library opening hours.
Note: From semester 1 2008, this area no longer accepts emailed or faxed assignment submission. If your unit is on Learnline you should be able to submit electronically directly to the relevant unit site. This area now only processes hard copy assignments sent via post or placed in the assignment drop box located in the library foyer at Casuarina campus.
External/off campus examinations
External Student Support manages the invigilation process for external/off campus exams held in each central exam period and also the three periods a year where special/supplementary exams are undertaken.
- If you live within 80 km of any CDU campus or centre, then you will sit your exam at the applicable campus
- If you live more than 80 km from any CDU campus or centre you will need to find an exam supervisor (invigilator).
Students undertaking an off campus exam need to complete the examination supervision form and send it to External Students Support at least two weeks before the examination period begins. Your cooperation in ensuring exam invigilation booking arrangements are made and timely submission of forms is appreciated.
If you are having any difficulties or do not understand what you need to do, contact External Student Support. If you are nervous about your exams visit the exams section of the Study Skills for help.
