Requesting and borrowing for distance students and staff

General information on Loans

Charles Darwin University pays the postage out of items; return postage is the responsibility of the borrower. Please keep receipts for taxation. See Loan conditions and periods for the number and length of loans.

Items held in the Short Term Loan Collection are not posted out.

Any loan may be recalled for another borrower. Items that are recalled reduces the loan period. You can also place a Request on an item someone else has on loan.

Loans may be renewed, if the item is not overdue and there are no requests on it. Renewals are for another four weeks only.

Overdue fines apply to all borrowers.

See Lending services for more information.

Arranging borrowing

When requesting items it is important that:

The Library will pay for items to be sent out but the borrower is responsible for the return cost. (Note: Alice Springs campus and other CDU offices cannot be used to return items).

Please request your items using the Off Campus Request form. If you are having any difficulties with the form please email or telephone us on (08)8946 6567.

Returning borrowed items

It is your responsibility to ensure that materials you have borrowed are returned to CDU Library by the due date, including any due dates, which have been brought forward due to a recall.

Returning library items in person

If you are visiting Darwin you can return items at the loans desk or via the After Hours Return chute at either Casuarina or Palmerston Campus library.

Returning library items by post

Please ensure that posted materials are securely packaged. Use the return address label, which was included, when the items were sent out.
