Using EndNote with Databases > Direct Import Method
Direct Import Method
You can transfer records from the following databases
into an EndNote library, without having to download or save the references.

Ed/ITLib Digital Library
Science Direct
Web

Contents Connect database
- When you have performed your search, check the references in which
you are interested.
- Click on the Update List button to add the references to your Personal
Interest Checklist.
- When you have finished searching, click on the My List icon at
the top of the page to display all references in your checklist.
- At the bottom of this page, click on the button labelled Export to
Procite/Ref Manager/Endnote.
- Your EndNote software will automatically be opened (if it is not already
open), and you will see the Select a Reference Library dialogue box.
- Select the library, and the references will immediately be imported into
it.
EbscoHost
- Click on "Add" to add
references to folder
- Click on "View Folder" to
display references in folder
- Click on "Save to Disk".
- When new window opens, click on "Bibliographic
Manager" tab.
- Check "Citations in Direct Export format".
- our EndNote software will automatically be opened (if it is not already open), and you will see the Select a Reference Library dialogue box. Select the library, and the references will be immediately imported into it.
Please note that some duplicate information may be imported into the Notes field but that all the information appears in the main fields cleanly.
Ed/ITLib Digital Library
- Click on View Abstract/Citation for each record you wish to export. This needs to be done separately for each record.
- Click on Export Citation.
- Click on the EndNote radio button and then Download Citation.
- Select the appropriate EndNote Library, click on Open.
Science
Direct
- When you have performed your search, check the references in which you
are interested.
- Then click on the export citations link. This will display the Export
page.
- At the Export: option, select Citations + Abstracts
- At the File Format: option, select RIS format (for Reference Manager,
ProCite, EndNote)
- Click on the Export button.
Your EndNote software will automatically
be opened (if it is not already open), and you will see the Select a Reference
Library dialogue box. Select the library, and the references will be immediately
imported into it.
