Request for CDU item by another Library
Requests
CDU staff and students may use the Interlibrary Loans service to request materials for work-related research and teaching. For CDU Staff and CDU students residing overseas the service is limited to the supply of copies of articles or book chapters.
Postgraduate students
PhD, doctorates, masters by research and postgraduate students have the following limits to the number of requests during the period of their candidature:
- PhD (100% research)- 200 requests
- Masters by research - 100 requests
- Masters by coursework - 50 requests
- All other postgraduates - 50 requests
General staff & undergraduate students
Requests need to be authorised by the requestor's lecturer/supervisor. Requests can be submitted without authorisation, but prepayment is required - please contact us for further details.
Menzies staff and students
Note:The generic login given for accessing databases will not allow access to forms for Interlibrary loan or distance requests. To obtain an individual login please contact library-technology@cdu.edu.au.
Alice Springs staff & students
Students and staff who live within 80km of Alice Springs Campus select the Alice Springs campus option on the request form.
CDU staff & CDU students residing overseas
CDU Staff and CDU students who live overseas can place requests for copies of articles or book chapters, entire books will not be supplied.
Requesting for eReserve
If requesting a copy for eReserve, please add a note to the comments box and the item will be forward on to eReserve staff for processing upon receipt.
Checklist
Does the Library already have a copy?
Search the CDU Library Catalogue and eJournal portal to see if the book or journal is held by CDU Library.
Placing requests
- provide complete citation details
- allow sufficient time for processing & supply
Guidelines
Time needed for processing
Generally supply times are:
- copies 3-5 days
- books 5-10 days
Factors that may delay suppy include, difficulty sourcing nationally, copyright restrictions, and incorrect citation details.

The supply of copies via interlibray loan is governed by Copyright Laws. For Copyright information regarding teaching, learning and research queries please check Copyright@CDU.
Services to other libraries
CDU Library provides document delivery services to other Australian and overseas libraries. Individuals requiring documents should contact their own institution's library, which may make requests on your behalf.
How to send requests
Interlibrary Loans staff accept requests via the Libraries Australia Document Delivery System (LADD), DocStore, email or fax.
Request for CDU item by another Library
Requesting CDU theses
Charles Darwin University theses may be purchased for the purpose of research and study. Digital or print copies can be supplied, costs inculdes GST & postage:
- Unbound paper copies
- Up to 300 pages AUD$80.00
- More than 300 pages AUD$120.00
- Digital copy supplied on CD Rom AUD$60.00
